Key Policies

Normally, each content lecture includes one short in-class quiz that also records attendance. A fully correct submission earns 2 points, an incomplete submission or one containing an incorrect answer earns 1 point, and an absence or missing submission earns 0 points. There are no quizzes during the guest lecture, TA-led project discussions, milestone poster session, or spotlight presentations. The three lowest quiz scores, including zeros from ordinary absences, are dropped. Ordinary makeup quizzes are not offered; authorized absences and approved accommodations are handled separately.

Students have five slip days for eligible take-home assignments. Slip days do not apply to quizzes or in-class presentations. Canvas closes three calendar days after a due date; work that is still eligible after Canvas closes should be sent to the course email with the assignment name, the grading owner, and the number of slip days used.

Generative AI tools may be used unless an assignment says otherwise. Students remain responsible for the accuracy, quality, originality, and compliance of submitted work and must acknowledge material AI use. AI tools may not be used during quizzes unless explicitly authorized as an accommodation.
